Dynamics of Accretion Flows Irradiated by a Quasar

چکیده

We present the results from axisymmetric time-dependent hydrodynamical calculations of gas flows which are under the influence of gravity of a black hole in quasars. We assume that the flows are nonrotating and exposed to quasar radiation. We take into account X-ray heating and the radiation force due to electron scattering and spectral lines. To compute the radiation field, we consider an optically thick, geometrically thin, standard accretion disk as a source of UV photons and a spherical central object as a source of X-rays. The gas temperature and ionization state in the flow are calculated self-consistently from the photoionization and heating rate of the central object. We find that for a 10 M⊙ black hole with an accretion luminosity of 0.6 of the Eddington luminosity the flow settles into a steady state and has two components: (1) an equatorial inflow and (2) a bipolar inflow/outflow with the outflow leaving the system along the disk rotational axis. The inflow is a realization of a Bondi-like accretion flow. The second component is an example of a non-radial accretion flow which becomes an outflow once it is pushed close to the rotational axis where thermal expansion and the radiation pressure accelerate it outward. Our main result is that the existence of the above two flow components is robust to the outer boundary conditions and the geometry and spectral energy distribution of the radiation field. However, the flow properties are not robust. In particular, the outflow power and collimation is higher for the radiation dominated by the UV/disk emission than for the radiation dominated by the X-ray/central engine emission. Our most intriguing result is that a very narrow outflow driven by radiation pressure on lines can carry more energy and mass than a broad outflow driven by thermal expansion. A Simplified Solution for Advection Dominated Accretion Flows with Outflow

The existence of outflow in the advection dominated accretion flows has been confirmed by both numerical simulations and observations. The outow models for ADAF have been investigated by several groups with a simple self similar solution. But this solution is inaccurate at the inner regions and can not explain the emitted spectrum of the flow; so, it is necessary to obtain a global solution for...

The Role of Thermal Conduction in Accretion Disks with Outflows

In this work we solve the set of hydrodynamical equations for accretion disks in the spherical coordinates (r,θ,ϕ) to obtain the explicit structure along θ direction. We study a two-dimensional advective accretion disc in the presence of thermal conduction. We find self-similar solutions for an axisymmetric, rotating, steady, viscous-resistive disk. We show that the global structure of an advec...

General relativistic hydrodynamic flows around a static compact object in final stages of accretion flow

Dynamics of stationary axisymmetric configuration of the viscous accreting fluids surrounding a non-rotating compact object in final stages of accretion flow is presented here. For the special case of thin disk approximation, the relativistic fluid equations ignoring self-gravity of the disk are derived in Schwarzschild geometry. For two different state equations, two sets of self-consistent an...

Calculation of the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of relativistic accretion flows in the Kerr metric.

In this paper, we calculate the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of the relativistic accretion ows in the Kerr metric, overall and without any approximation. We obtain the relations of all components of the relativistic bulk and shear tensor in terms of components of four-velocity and its derivatives, Christoffel symbols and metric components in the BLF. Then, these components are deri...

DYNAMICS OF MUDBANKS ALONG A COAST EXPERIENCING RECURRING EPISODES OF EROSION AND ACCRETION

The morphological states of Guyana’s coastal system, at various spatial and temporal scales, are found to be influenced by the formation and migration of mudbanks. Stationary and propagating mudbanks along the coast are investigated with the use of multiple data sources, including aerial photographs, satellite imagery, GPS measurements, and a time series of coastal profile data (1941-1987...
